Deputy State Secretariat of Foreign Economic Affairs
The Deputy State Secretariat of Foreign Economic Affairs is headed by Deputy
State Secretary Dr. Ábel Garamhegyi.
Department of Investments
The Department is responsible for major investment projects of great national
economic significance and supervises the preparations and execution of governmental
tasks associated with the investments of multinational companies in Hungary. The
Investment Department maintains a daily contact with foreign investors and multinational
companies established in Hungary, as well as with the Hungarian interest organisations
of investors, to ensure a timely response by the Government to any problems and
challenges presented by the global market.
In addition, the Department also and draws up and updates the strategy and regulation
of the offset activity, supervises the work of the Offset Coordination Office
and coordinates the activity of the Offset Committee.
Furthermore, the Department supervises the activity of the Hungarian Investment
and Trade Development Agency (ITDH) as its owner and as a professionally competent
body.
Economic Development Programmes Department
The Economic Development Programmes Department is responsible for the analysis
and evaluation of the implementation of the support policy promoting economic
competitiveness and investment. The Department assists in the development of the
investment incentive priority of the NDP ECOP, as well as in the implementation
of the programme, and it operates the National Contact Point set up under the
OECD's Committee on International Investment and Multinational Enterprises (CIME).
Furthermore, it is responsible for developing and operating the support efficiency
measuring and monitoring systems, and for consultations with professional and
interest organisations. The Department also develops and monitors the nationally
funded tender schemes for investment promotion.
The Economic Development Programmes Department is also responsible for contracting
as regards the financing of the Hungarian Investment and Trade Development Agency
(ITDH) and the assisting organisations.
Economics Department
The Economics Department monitors and forecasts major trends in the global economy
and in Hungarian macroeconomics and finances, with particular regard to growth,
internal and external equilibrium and the dynamics of major macroeconomic factors
affecting competitiveness, and it prepares regular and ad-hoc analyses. In its
quarterly issued public periodical and special information back-up materials,
the Department analyses macroeconomic and financial processes, follows up the
trends in FDI, and evaluates and forecasts international capital flow processes.
